Joe McGorian
Colleagues,
I am sorry to inform you of the passing of an Aspire Midland Football Alliance Honorary Vice President, Joe McGorian, last Monday 19th January 2009.
Joe was a founder member of Solihull Borough F.C. and a life member of Solihull Moors F.C. He donated the Joe McGorian Cup which is played for annually between our League Champions and our Challenge Cup winners.
Joe was always keen to present the Cup in person and it will continue to be played for, now sadly, in Joe's memory.
Regards, John Shaw

Nigel Clough speaks after Cup game
After Burton Albion's hard fought 1-0 victory over Boldmere on Tuesday, manager Nigel Clough praised 'The Mikes' in The Burton Mail.
Clough was quoted in saying "It was a good finish in what was a hard-earned win against a side who tried to play football."
The game was decided by a single 7th minute goal by former Derby County star Lee Morris who is trying to rebuild his career after suffering serious injury while at Yeovil Town 13 months ago.

The 'Aspire' Midland Football Alliance will now operate with 22 sides due to the sad news that Stapenhill have folded and resigned from the league.
Boldmere visiting Bloxwich United for the first time on Saturday
The town of Bloxwich is back on the footballing map after an absence of three years following the emergence of West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division new-boys, Bloxwich United AFC.
"The lack of a senior non-League team to represent the town is something that needed to be addressed," said player-manager, Michael Moseley. "Blakenall were regular members of the Southern League during the 1990s and Bloxwich Town also had plenty of success at a higher level before their sad demise in 2005.
"Their achievements increased the profile of the town nationally as well as locally and just goes to show the potential that there is in this area. The fact that all of our players are local lads, with an average age of just 21, counts for a lot. They have developed well together as a team over the past couple of years and are great mates off-the-field as well. They are relishing the challenges that lie ahead.
"There is so much talent locally and we want to be able to provide a platform for it to thrive and give local people a team to be proud of.
"A lot of people who followed Blakenall and Bloxwich Town have already started to come along to see what we are about and with this name change, we want to be able to re ach out to the local community and give them a club that they can associate with.
"We are ambitious and really want to move the club forward both on and off-the-field. The beauty of football is that anything is possible with hard work and application.
"The foundations are in place here and I feel that we are on the verge of something good. At the moment there are just a handful of us running the whole club, but with the support of the local community I am excited by what we can go on to achieve."
The Red Lions began life with a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Walsall FC earlier this month in front of a crowd of almost 400. Most recently Bloxwich hosted fellow MFA side Causeway United and lost by the odd goal in five.
The game on Saturday will kick off at 3pm with admission of £3 adults, £1 concessions. Directions to the ground are available in the 'First Team Away Day Planner'
