Three new signings make first starts for club
Three new signings made their first starts in Boldmere colours in the Reserves 4-0 home victory over Banbury United on Saturday.
Jared McGivern is a striker who has arrived from Chasetown. He has previously played for Harrogate Railway and Knaresborough Town, but has now moved back to the area. Jared made his first team bow as a second half substitute in the FA Cup defeat at AFC, Wulfrunians. His good first touch and excellent link up play has impressed during his brief appearances so far. Jared was unfortunate not to open his account against Banbury, but did enough to suggest that he will do very soon.
Robin Keates is a creative midfield player signed from local rivals Pelsall Villa. Robin made a solid debut, demonstrating his passing ability to set up a number of chances for his team mates.
Jamel Wilson is an 18-year-old full back, who played for Solihull Moors youth team last year, who joins via a brief spell at Castle Vale JKS. Wilson made a substitute appearance for the reserves at Bromsgrove last week, before securing a starting berth against Banbury. He slotted in seamlessly, producing an excellent all-round display.
Rob Clarke was pleased with the debutants: “All three made a real contribution to the performance. Their attitude and work rate was spot on, and they all showed their individual abilities well, within a decent all-round team performance. It’s a good start for all of them to build upon. I hope their time at the club is successful and enjoyable”.
