Seventh Heaven for Boldmere Reserves
The Mikes Reserves first match action for a mind numbing 39 days produced an entertaining victory over Midland Combination Premier Division visitors Racing Club Warwick. It was a case of lucky seven, as the tie had been postponed six times due to the inclement weather, after being originally scheduled for late November.
The Mikes reward for their hard-earned victory is an away tie at Massey Ferguson, also of the Midland Combination Premier Division. That place was secured courtesy of second half goals from strikers Mark Mason and Adam Morton, despite a nervous last quarter after the Racers reduced the arrears.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke was understandably pleased “I couldn’t have asked for more from the lads in the circumstances. The desire and application was first class. We knew some quality would be lacking after such a long lay off, but it was a good performance. In particular, the two goals were superb. We started at a great tempo and had them penned in for the first quarter. Inevitably, there were some tired legs out there at the end, but the lads dug deep to see it through and didn’t panic after they scored. We’re looking forward to another test at Massey Ferguson in the Quarters”.
The Mikes Reserves are without a fixture this weekend.
