Boldmere St. Michaels 2 - 3 Causeway United

Boldmere had some good chances to take an early lead in the match.  On 7 minutes John Williams failed to covert after chipping Skeldon, Causeways goalkeeper.   In the 16th minute Williams turned provider as his square pass to captain Gough was saved by a last minute tackle from Causeway's Henley, clearing the danger.

A minute later Gould's pass fed Nathan Gough striding towards goal was stopped by the diving goalkeeper.

In the 18 minute the visitors made their first attacking impression on the game, Cox fed through striker How whose direct run into the area was ended by Wood's saving tackle.  A minute later however Causeway broke the deadlock through an excellent back post header by Busby, with the assist courtesy of Cox's cross.  On the half hour mark Causeway made it two, a defensive mistake by Gould let in Cox on the edge of Boldmeres area who fired in a bending shot to the far corner.

At half time 'The Mikes' manager Rob Mallaband made his changes. Unfortunately once again Daniel Cobb had to go off injured, replaced by Lane. Shaun Derry also replaced Pete Gould. Lyndon Weller changed wings and with Derry coming into midfield, Ricky Baker moved out to the left wing, and Barton moved to full back.

The changes had their desired effect, within two minutes of the re-start Ricky Baker scored. Gough's control and pass to Anthony Juxon was then gathered before releasing Baker free on goal, he slid the ball under the advancing keeper and into the net.  On 51 minutes the game was made even.

Baker's corner found Aaron Hamilton at the back post to cleanly head in.

The home side piled on the pressure in the next 20 minute spell with efforts from Gough and Weller going close.  Against the run of play Aston's punt up field found Stretton behind the home defence, his control brought the ball down on the edge of the area  and with defenders backing off and no forthcoming challenge Stretton's shot gave Adam Lane no chance finding the top corner. Late on substitute Shaun Derry was sent off for two bookings.
