Boldmere St. Michaels Reserves 6 - 2 Coleshill
Boldmere ended their Midland Combination Reserve League August fixtures with yet another emphatic win, this time against long term bogey side Coleshill with what looks like a 6 goal thrashing, but this experienced Coleshill side played their part in an entertaining game for the healthy number of watching spectators.
The game was pretty even for the opening twenty minutes with the visitors possibly shading possession but then a speedy break down the right wing by Mark Mason saw him skip a couple of lunges before pulling the ball back from the goal-line for the onrushing Stuart McNaught to smash home his third goal in three games. Boldmere’s tempo lifted and they set siege to the visitor’s goal, the only surprise being just the one further goal added by the ever dangerous Kieran Robinson, this was due in the main to poor finishing, a fine save to thwart Lee Osborne after more good work by Mason by the overworked Butler in the Coleshill goal, and some fine last ditch defending by the visitors.
H.T 2-0
The second half was turned on its head inside the opening minute, with two goals from the visitors due to some slipshod defending from the Mikes point of view and then a looping header almost put the rampant Coleshill attack into the lead, and this turned out to be the turning point of the game, as another foul on the edge of the box by the tiring Coleshill defence, enabled the enterprising Robinson to score with the most exquisite finish. Further goals from Scott Barker and two from the industrious Osborne made it a comfortable win in the end for this Boldmere side that is still to reach their top form this season but have finished the month with three wins from three games, scoring 22 (twenty-two) goals in the process and conceding five. Surely this will put the reserves in pole position for the 'Team of the Month' award.
