Boldmere St. Michaels Reserves 9 - 1 Heather St. John
The Mike’s reserves continued there impressive early season form, with another demolition job, this time over Leicestershire based league new boys, Heather St. John’s. Heather found themselves five goals down at the break, due to a brace apiece from Mark “Mace the Ace” Mason and midfield dynamo Stuart McNaught coupled to an excellent run and finish by Andre Calder.
The second half continued as the first with Heather unable to deal with Mikes pace and movement of the ball, further goals from skipper Neal Hanlon, Calder again, Dave Wapple and Mason completing a fine hat-trick wrapped up a comprehensive win, that could have been much more emphatic as Mikes had a further two goals disallowed and McNaught missed out on a first ever hat-trick when his thirty yard screamer smacked against the crossbar.
Heather who had to draft six players into there first team, continued to try and play the game in a good spirit and their philosophy to play a passing game was commendable, but will find the reserve division an unforgiving place to play when unable to field their strongest side.
