Boldmere St. Michaels 1 - 4 Nuneaton Town AET
The Mikes welcomed last season’s MYFL Premier Division champions Nuneaton Town to Church Road for the Preliminary round of the invitation Midland Youth Cup.
Boldmere got off to a strong start and dominated the first half and had a shot blocked on the line in the 38th minute. Nuneaton’s best chance in the first half came on 40 minutes when a defensive mix up led to a lob over the home keeper which just cleared the bar.
Mikes made a started the second half strongly and took the lead on 47 minutes when Nathan Wall converted from the penalty spot. They were looking good for their first win of the season when Nuneaton got an equaliser on 84 minutes when their no 10 positioned himself between the Keeper and a defender to tap the ball in.
The visitors went through the gears in extra time and took the lead on 104 minutes when the ball was deflected in from a corner, it became 3-1 seven minutes later when No 10 headed over the keeper into the net and finished at 4-1 with 5 minutes left when a two home defenders were left standing for the away forward to shoot into the top corner
