The young mikes were looking to return to winning ways after losing in the league and Birmingham Cup last week The young mikes had an opportunity after 2 minutes when Tom Green's close range shot was saved by the keeper.
On 10 minutes Stourbridge had a corner which was headed over the mikes bar. On 19 minutes Sam Pearson in the Stourbridge goal pushed the ball out for a corner from a Johaine Thompson's feet. On 21 minutes Johaine Thompson shot over the Stourbridge bar after a solo run.
Two minutes later the young mikes took the lead when Nathan Wall took a quick free kick and bent the ball into an empty net whilst the keeper was still lineing up his wall. On 32 minutes Stourbridge forced a corner which was easily punched away by mikes keeper Tom Cox.
Six minutes later the Young Mikes doubled their lead when Tom Law fired a tremendous shot from the edge of the area which went in the roof of the Stourbridge net to give the mikes a handy half time lead. The second half started with the mikes piling on the pressure Cavan Baxter having a shot punched away by the Stourbridge keeper.
On 68 Minutes Stourbridge had their best opportunity when a last ditch Jordan Gibbons tackle prevented Drenis Bala from getting his shot on target. Danny Jones, Sam Panton and Joshua Caulfield were bought on late for the young mikes whilst in stoppage time a Johaine Thompson pass found Joshua Caulfield who shot over the bar from close range.
Stourbridge had a stoppage time corner that cleared the mikes bar but it was Boldmere who progressed into the Quarter Finals of the League Cup
