Boldmere St. Michaels 3-2 Sutton Coldfield Town Youth
The Mikes Youth team continued their recent improved form, recording a league double over their local rivals, which should really have been more comfortable.
A strong first half performance saw The Mikes lead 3-1 at the break thanks to an Aaron Thornton goal and two more from skipper James Walker in his final game before a lengthy ban.
A scrappy second half performance saw the arrears reduced right after the restart following a controversial award of a free kick for an alleged back pass. The Mikes were still on top, but gave possession away all too easily, but still held out relatively comfortably to secure the points.
Manager Mark Clarke commented “We made hard work of it tonight. The first half performance was good, but we gave the ball away too often in the second half. I am happy with the points”.
The young Mikes are back in action next Monday 2nd November, when they travel to Pelsall Villa in the Staffs County Cup (7.45pm).
