Boldmere St. Michaels Youth 5 - 1 Bromsgrove Rovers Youth
The young mikes returned to Church Road for their first game of 2009 and in fact their first home game in any competition since September 29th 2008.
They faced familier opposition in that we’ve played them in the league away and the FA Youth Cup.
Bromsgrove took the first opportunity on 2 minutes when a close range shot was saved by Thomas Cox in the mikes goal.
On 8 minutes Tom Green was denied an opener for the young mikes by a last ditch tackle and in the next movement Boldmere shot over the bar from inside the six yard box.
On 11 minutes Tom Green had a shot cleared over the Bromsgrove line.
Bromsgrove took the lead against the run of play on 22 minutes when a cross was headed in at the post by their no6.
Boldmere finally got their equaliser 6 minutes later when Joshua Turton headed over the keeper into an empty net.
Boldmere took the lead literally on the half time whistle when a Nathan Wall Cross was shot in by an advancing Jordan Gibbons.
Bromsgrove came out fired up for the second half and on 46 minutes their no 5 had a goal ward bound shot cleared away for a corner.
On 55 minutes a Craig Jones shot hit the Bromsgrove bar. Boldmere then added a third when a floated over corner was shot home by Danny Mulholland.
A minute later Bromsgrove had a good opportunity when a shot hit the Boldmere crossbar and was punched away by Thomas Cox.
Boldmere got their fourth on the hour mark when Johaine Thompson got on the end of a free kick and shot past the keeper.
On 76 minutes Boldmere completed the scoring when Jordan Gibbons went past several defenders before shooting past the Bromsgrove keeper to earn the young mikes their first league points of 2009 ahead of their important Birmingham County FA Youth Cup Semi Final against Castle Vale JKS on Monday
