Biddulph Victoria 1 - 3 Boldmere St. Michaels
On a cold and damp evening Boldmere took their fine league form on the road with them to Biddulph Victoria for the 2nd Round League Cup clash.
After both sides sharing the first 20 minutes, the first goal came from a home attack in the 12st minute which was broken down by 'The Mikes' whose counter attack found Saturday's hat-trick hero Lee Osborne on the edge of the area. After beind dispossessed by Scott Burge the ball fell to Jason Holmes in the box to score at the near post.
Just after the half hour mark Lyndon Weller's corner was met by Biddulph's Burge whose defensive header just cleared the bar for another flag kick. From the resulting corner ball, Adam Wood headed on target which was superbly tipped over by Philip McGing.
It was then Boldmere's Jenkins who was called into action when faced with a one-on-one against Nicholas Aitken, with the keeper winning the ball his quick thinking release found Holmes who thread in Lee Osborne running into the box who expertly dispatched a low drive into the corner for 2-0.
Early in the second half Ricky Baker could have made it three but from a good position the winger fired high. Anthony Juxon also fired over a couple of minutes later having got on the end of a move including Osborne and Holmes.
In the 63rd minute Jenkins' reactions stopped the home side getting a goal back but he was powerless to do anything with Hendrics-Hamilton's 20 yard strike which hit the under side of the bar before re-bounding in.
Substitute Kirk Smith having entered the field with 6 minutes to go, wasted no time in getting on the score sheet to kill the game off. Smith picked the ball at halfway and run into the box and issuing a composed finish to wrap events up and send 'The Mikes' through to the third round where they will travel to Oadby.
