Boldmere St. Michaels 0 - 2 Alvechurch
The Mikes returned to league action looking to gain league points against a strong Alvechurch side who were welcoming mikes old boy Matt Gardiner back from MFA rivals Causeway United.
Boldmere started strongly when on two minutes a free kick was tapped to Kirk Smith who fired over the Alvechurch bar. On 9 minutes Alvechurch had their first chance when Craig Gregg from out wide just fired past the post.
Alvechurch made the breakthrough on 13 minutes when Craig Gregg broke clear of the mikes defence to curl the ball beyond Adam Jenkins in the Boldmere goal.
The mikes had an opportunity on 15 minutes when when Lee Osbourne raced clear only to fire at David Rimmer in the Alvechurch goal.
Alvechurch were continuing to be dangerous and doubled their lead on 23 minutes when mikes old boy Calum Gittings from the edge of the area fired into the net.
Alvechurch were continuing to dominate and on 38 minutes a shot from Naveed Arshad hit the Boldmere cross bar.
Boldmere started the second half brighter but there were few incidents of note but the game sprung to light on 56 minutes when Alvechurch’s Matt Gasper was shown a straight Red Card for a two footed lunge which sent mikes captain Tom Stevenson through the air and landing on his neck.
On 61 minutes Alvechurch’s Craig Gregg had a shot turned round the post by Adam Jenkins.
Boldmere’s best opportunity came on 87 minutes when a ball was parried out in the area to Ricky Baker who shot just past the Alvechurch goal.
