Boldmere St. Michaels 1-6 Friar Lane & Epworth
If Manager Rob Mallaband was hoping the win against Studley was a turning point he was rudely awakened when Friar Lane & Epworth arrived for this Polymac Services cup tie. Both McNaught and Baker returned to the starting line up as did Jason Holmes on paper at least strengthening the side. It all started to go downhill as early as the second minute when young keeper Sean Butler called late for a cross, Adam Wood ducked and the ball ended up in the back of the net courtesy of Chapman. Boldmere responded well and after Sam Simmonds had equalised in the 21st minute they should have got their noses in front but squandered several good chances. Butler's night had started badly and it was to get worse as a Gibbons shot slipped through his grasp and a rasping shot from White sent the visitors in at half time two goals to the good. A fourth goal from Chapman again beating the laconic dive from Butler surely meant things could not get any worse. However after hauling down White who had run clear in the left wing position Butler was dismissed completing a woeful night for the youngster. Substitute Matt Hawker took over in goal and watched the resultant penalty sail harmlessly past the post. Although Baker had a goal disallowed for pushing it was the visitors who had the final word scoring twice in the nine minutes of stoppage time through Lynch and White. This weekend Boldmere visit Stratford Town whose manager Rod Brown had watched the Mikes suffer against the Leicestershire outfit.
