Boldmere St. Michaels 2-0 Studley
Boldmere returned to winning ways last Saturday by beating visitors Studley by 2-0. This followed a 1-0 win at The Beehive in the FA Vase just four weeks previously. Studley arrived buoyed by the fact they had won their last two matches on the road whilst Mikes boss Rob Mallaband dropped Stuart McNaught and Ricky Baker to the bench following three indifferent performances. Jason Holmes also returned to first team duty, after three months out, when also named as a substitute. Boldmere held the upper hand in the early stages whilst not seriously threatening the visitors and it took a long range shot from the recalled Anthony Juxon to open the scoring past the unsighted keeper Harris in the 19th minute. Lee Osborne doubled the lead in the 37th minute with a crisp left foot shot leaving the Mikes with a comfortable two goal cushion at the break. The second half was more even with the visitors, prompted by the evergreen Ian Mitchell, posing more of a threat. However it was the Mikes on the break who looked the more likely to score. Indeed it was only a fine second half performance by the Studley custodian Matt Harris that meant the second half remain goalless.
