Boldmere St. Michaels 2 - 3 Coalville Town

'The Mikes' returned to league action fresh off a FA Vase victory at Blaby to face another Leicestershire side this time highflying Coalville town who have made a solid start to their league campaign.

On a day where conditions were better suited to Water Polo Boldmere made a strong start and had the game’s first chance on 7 minutes when a Lee Osbourne shot was deflected for a corner.

On 11 Minutes Boldmere created an opportunity when a Lee Osbourne long shot was turned around the Coalville post by keeper Richard Willliams. Five Minutes later Boldmere should have took the led but for the quick actions of Richard Williams who tipped a shot onto the crossbar and was safely cleared away by the Coalville defence.

On 24 minutes Boldmere’s Lee Osbourne had an effort saved by the keeper and a minute later Richard Williams dealt with yet another effort.

Coalville’s first opportunity came on 27 minutes when Jermaine Gordon shot was deflected past the mikes post. Boldmere nearly took the lead on the half hour when a Ricky Baker cross found Matt Hawker who shot just past the Coalville goal and a minute Later Lee Osbourne again shot just past the post for Boldmere.

Finally Boldmere’s pressure told and they deservedly took the lead on 34 minutes when Lee Osbourne raced on and put through Ricky Baker who shot under Richard Williams in the Coalville goal to give Boldmere a deserved half time lead.

Coalville nearly equalised right at the start of the second half when a free kick from Daniel Hodgkinson just clipped the top of the Boldmere bar. They did equalise on 51 minutes when a ball from a free kick came to Cameron Stuart who fired through a crowded penalty area into the net. On 59 minutes a Lee Osbourne shot in the penalty area was blocked by a Coalville defender.

Boldmere took the lead for the second time on 64 minutes when Lee Osbourne shot went through a crowded penalty area and past Richard Williams in the Coalville goal to make it two-one Boldmere. Cioalville were still coming forward and on 79 minutes Daniel Hodgkinson shot past the Boldmere goal from inside the penalty area.

Coalville nearly equalised on 84 minutes when a Daniel Hodgkisnon cross area pass was narrowly missed by a forward who slid the ball inches past the Boldmere post.

.It looked like Boldmere were getting a hard earned win then the crazyness started in the 89th minute when from a free kick a ball fell to Lee Miveld inside a crowded Boldmere penalty area who fired hard and low past Sean Butler to give Coalville what initially looked like an undeserved share of the points. Then almost from the restart Boldmere lost the ball and a long punt found Daniel Hodgkinson who a lot of the Boldmere bench and supporters thought was clearly offside when the ball was played, however the protests came to nothing and Hodgkinson was left to race clear and shoot past Sean Butler as Coalville Town somehow pulled off football’s equivilent of the great train robbery as for long periods Boldmere St Michaels outplayed their higher placed opponents and could come away from this game with their head’s held high.
