Boldmere St. Michaels 0 - 1 Burton Albion
Burton Albion of the Blue Square Premier included manager Nigel Clough in their starting line up at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground. The visitors took an early lead in the 7th minute with a thunderous strike from Lee Morris after a neat pass from Gary Crosby. The forward has recently linked up with Burton and in doing-so has dropped into non-league football for the first time in his career following spells at Sheffield United, Derby, Huddersfield, Leicester and Yeovil Town.
After the early setback Boldmere had 83 minutes to get back into the game and it was an entertaining affair, played in good spirit. Boldmere and Burton exchanged chances and the home defence worked hard to keep the experienced Burton attack out, yet also challenged the visitors back line.
Boldmere changed things up in the last 20 minutes, looking for the goal they needed, attack minded Ricky Baker and Jason Holmes were sent on and both got behind the Burton defence to register some good efforts on target. John Williams also fired in a number of opportunities but on the night Boldmere couldn't score despite the terrific effort.
