Boldmere St. Michaels 1 - 2 Barwell
Enterprising Barwell spent the majority of the first half on the front foot with free-flowing football, creating a succession of chances. In the 3rd minute it was clear 'The Mikes' goalkeeper Adam Lane was going to be busy, Scott Lower's long range effort was saved; minutes later Shane Brassington's cross found the head of Joel Potter which again was well handled by Lane.
In the 23rd minute a Craig Dutton effort found the side netting shortly before Stuart Spencer's header was blocked on the line by Matt Jackson. Boldmere were holding on and continued to absorb serious pressure but did manage their own counter attacks. The home side nearly took an unlikely lead in first half stoppage time when Stuart McNaught released Juxon who dipped his 20 yard effort just over the crossbar. On the hour mark the Barwell registered their best move of the match so far after Brassington linked up with fullback Lower on the right flank. His low cross was met by the lively Potter who put his effort over the bar. In the 63rd minute he finally broke the deadlock after Green's delicate dropping cross beat Boldmere's defence and was converted from the 6 yard line.
Boldmere on the attack had a great double chance 6 minutes later, Williams latched onto a slip by defender Spencer and raced towards goal, his shot was saved by Liam Castle and the rebound fell to Nathan Gough who sent his effort wide from a tight angle. With 20 minutes to go Barwell sub Nigel Julien on the right wing wandered into the centre to set up Reece Lester, his low and hard shot just evaded the diving Adam Lane.
In the 76th minute Adam Lane's clearance from open play fell to sub Julien, he chipped goalwards and looked to have sealed the victory, but for a terrific Wood overhead clearance. Boldmere finally found the net with three minute to go, Wood's punt to the head of Williams let in Baker to side foot the pass the advancing keeper. This set up a great finalee and Boldmere nearly secured an unlikely point when Lyndon Weller worked his way into the box, with his shot just clearing the crossbar.
