Rob Clarke on opening day of the season win
Boldmere got their Aspire MFA campaign off to a flying start with a 3-0 win at Bridgnorth Town. Rob Clarke commented: “We are delighted with a solid professional performance. It represents an excellent start. Bridgnorth is never an easy trip, with the slope always playing a part. The surface was very tricky as well, but we played some good stuff in the right areas. The lads took on board what they were asked to do, and made good decisions about when to get the ball down and play. Fitness levels also looked good, on what was a very hot day.
It’s also pleasing to see both strikers get off the mark. Their keeper had an excellent game, showing we hit the target with most of our chances. On another day we could have had a few more, but any team would be well satisfied a good away win with a clean sheet on the opening day.
It was also great to see the reserves start with a win against Bromsgrove. There are a lot of new faces and it was great to hear they gelled well and played some good stuff. By all accounts it probably should have been more comfortable and, but despite some nervy moments at the end the win was well deserved. Well done to Micky Hawkins, Neil Hanlon and the lads”.
