After a two week weather break, The Mikes Reserves hope to be back in at League action at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground next Wednesday. Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves are the visitors, in a repeat of the Challenge Bowl clash on the opening day.
The Mikes deservedly prevailed 2-1 in that tie, but Rovers revenge was swift, winning the opening league encounter 3-2 at a sweltering Victoria Ground a fortnight later.
Rovers recent financial troubles mean that they currently lie bottom of the table following a 10-point deduction, but Joint manager Rob Clarke knows that position will have no bearing on the game.
“Bromsgrove have still been getting results. Only a couple of weeks ago they beat Quorn in their first leg of the Challenge Bowl semi-final, so anyone expecting an easy game will be in for a rude awakening. We will have to be competitive to get the result we want. We’ve only played two league games since mid November, so we need to turn our games in hand into points on the board to get up the table. We have at least eight games scheduled in March, so it will really define our season - that begins with Bromsgrove.”
