Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves 1-2 Boldmere St. Michaels Reserves
Boldmere made the journey into Worcestershire to take on league leaders Bromsgrove, again with a depleted squad of only one substitute and 16 year old Ollie Wragg making his league debut in goal after impressing the Mikes goalkeeping coach in pre season due to regular keeper Sean Butler opting to play for his Sunday team instead - SHOCKING.
Mikes and Bromsgrove battled out for supremacy in a tight but relatively poor first half from the Mikes perspective, chances where at a premium for both sides, and with one or two players in not at there top of there game, it tended to be a half of errors and giving the ball away cheaply.
Danny Dubidat and Jamal Fuller may feel they could have done slightly better with their half chances that came along.
Bromsgrove 0 v 0 Mikes
The second half was a much improved display with tempo and passing speed increasing significantly, and Mikes taking over the game, the introduction of leading scorer Kieran Robinson, lit the touch paper.
The fireworks started with Dubidat and Fuller with his first goal for the club putting away opportunities for Mikes to take a commanding and controlled lead, and have a good grip on the game until a Mikes corner brilliantly delivered by Kevin Buxton was collected by the excellent home keeper and set off a quick move that eventually led to the home side pulling a goal back.
Bromsgrove then came into it much more and started to push the Mikes defence further backwards and create some concern to the visitors, but Mikes hung on for a hard fought three points, thanks in the main to an all round hard working display but with significant contributions from Buxton, and the dynamo Andy Lewis and the rock Andre Calder.
