Post Match Reaction: Mikes Reserves storm past Bustleholme‏

Any doubts about the Mikes Reserves’ ability to shake off Saturday’s frustrating league defeat to Chasetown were soon dispelled, as they bounced back in style with a comprehensive demolition of Bustleholme FC in the first round of the BCFA Midweek Floodlit Cup. Their Black Country hosts are currently riding high in fourth place in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

The Mikes dominated proceedings from start to finish, with Anthony Juxon pulling the strings in midfield and Lyndon Weller turning in a devastating display of wing play. Weller capped his performance with the opening goal, before Andy Lewis then sub Tom Clews capped slick passing moves to complete the rout.

Joint Manager Rob Clarke commented: “I am absolutely delighted with the performance tonight. Everybody involved deserves the utmost credit – there wasn’t a single bad performance. Some of the football was a joy to watch, and plenty of the lads have underlined their first team credentials. To come away from home and dismantle a very good side is a fantastic achievement”.

The Mikes are back in Midland Combination Reserve League action on Saturday 28th October, when they make the short journey to Walsall Wood. (3:00pm).
