Reserves Preview: Challenge Trophy Final Thu 6th May
CUP FINAL PREVIEW:
Barwell Reserves v The Mikes Reserves
Thursday 6th May 2010 – 7:45pm
Midland Football Combination Challenge Trophy
* At Barwell FC, Kirkby Road, LE8 8FQ
The Mikes Reserves travel to Kirkby Road again on Thursday night, hoping to round their season off with a third successive Challenge Trophy success.
The Mikes know the territory well, as this is their third trip to face The Canaries this season. They played their penultimate league fixture at the Kirkby road only last Saturday, securing a point from a frustrating 0-0 draw. The Mikes won 3-2 on the ground in the Challenge Bowl Group stages back in September courtesy of Johaine Thompson’s treble.
Rob Clarke looked ahead to the game: “This is a cup final, so there’s no certainty that it will be the same as Saturday’s game. The lads were bitterly disappointed to draw, which meant our title challenge was realistically over. This was reflected in the performance on Monday, but they are determined to end the season on a high. The same obviously applies to Barwell, so it’s set up to be a cracker”.
