Chasetown 6- 1 Boldmere St. Michaels Youth

The young mikes travelled to Chasetown for the quarter final of the Staffs Youth Cup looking to defend the title they won by beating Burton Albion.   Their opponents play a division below Boldmere in the Northern Division of the MYFL.

On a cold night at The Scholors it was an even first few minutes Chasetown having a corner punched away by Steve Clorley inside the first minute whilst on 14 minutes the Chasetown keeper struggled to clear a corner.

On 25 minutes a Johaine Thompson shot forced a Chasetown goalie save at full length.   Chasetown opened the scoring on 28 minutes when a cross was headed in at the near post.   Four minutes later Boldmere suffered a blow when Keeper Steve Clorley had to be replaced when he hurt his foot kicking into the hard ground whilst attempting a goal kick. He was replaced by defender Danny Mulholland in goal.

Chasetown doubled their lead on 37 minutes when Mullholland pushed a shot out into the path of a Chasetown forward who fired home from the edge of the penalty area.   Boldmere started the second half brightly and made it 2-1 on 54 minutes when a Tom Green cross found Johaine Thompson who fired home to halve the deficit.

Chasetown made it 3-1 on 57 minutes when keeper Mulholland saved at the Chasetown players feet only for the player to shoot home the rebound.   Two Minutes later it was 4-1 when a player latched onto a shot and put past the wrong side of the Boldmere Keeper.

Boldmere had a moment on 68 minutes when a shot hit the Chasetown bar.   It was 5-1 on 74 minutes when the Boldmere defence stopped expecting a flag and the Chasetown player walked the ball into an empty net.

Chasetown completed the scoring and ended Boldmere's reign as holders in stoppage time when a Chasetown player from 35 yards out fired into the roof of the Boldmere Net to earn a semi final at home to either Rushall Olympic or Bustleholme.
