Reserves Preview: Chasetown v The Mikes
Match Preview: Tuesday 20th April 2010 – 7:45pm
Chasetown Reserves v The Mikes Reserves
Midland Football Combination Reserve Division
The Mikes Reserves travel to The Scholars on Tuesday for a mouth watering top of the table clash.
This is the sixth and final meeting of the season between the two sides, after being drawn together in the two legged semi finals of both the Challenge Bowl and Challenge Trophy. The Mikes won through in both ties, but Chasetown prevailed in the league meeting at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground back in October.
Things couldn’t be tighter at the top of the table, with once point separating the top three. The Mikes are currently top of the pile, with Quorn and Chasetown a point behind. The Scholars have a game in hand and Barwell are three points further back, after their victory over Chasetown at the weekend.
There are serious of fixtures involving the top four playing each other, so the end of the season should be an exciting affair.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke expects yet another close encounter “It’s tough to pick a favourite as there is so little between the teams. We got through in the semi final, but that was in extra time after two drawn games. Both teams have had a punishing schedule of four games in eight days, including extra time last Monday and the heat on Saturday. There will be some tired legs about, but I expect no let up in the pace or intensity that has characterised each meeting so far. Let’s hope it’s another cracker”.
