Coalville Town 0-0 Boldmere St. Michaels Football Club
Boldmere traveled to Coalville in the knowledge the hosts had a 100% winning record for the season in the league after five fixtures. It was an tough match, played at a fast pace and a fantastic advert for the Aspire Midland Football Alliance.
The game was played in cold conditions and there was questions whether the floodlights would last the full 90 minutes after Coalvilles last two matches had to be abandoned due to floodlight failure. There were no such problems and the superb defences proved to be the talking point of the night.
Boldmere had a strong first half with chances aplenty. Kirk Smith met Ricky Baker's free kick to direct a header on-target which was well saved. Kirk Smith then fed Jason Holmes in on goal after smart work by Simeon Tulloch.
Coalville's best effort of the first half fell to Michael Swan after good build up play from Carl Adams.
After the re-start Swan again went close before Boldmere registered their first effort of the half. Jason Holmes fired in on target following a cross from Matt Jackson. Martin Thomson headed down in the box for the home side to set up Carl Adams in the box who blazed wide.
With 15 minutes to go Coalville were reduced to ten men after Arron Hamilton was fouled. A melly followed but no further action was taken.
Boldmere tried to capitalise on the man advantage but to no avail as the well organised home defence stood firm.
