Cradley Town 2 - 3 Boldmere St. Michaels
In the third minute Jason Holmes was fouled on the edge of Cradley Town’s penalty area by Marlen Walters, Holmes could not continue and was replaced by Lee Osborne. The resulting free kick in a dangerous position came of nothing with Cradley surviving. It was the home side who took the lead in the 27th minute, a slip by Swain in the right back position let Liam McDonald in who progressed to the 18 yard line before releasing his shot. It seemed to be held by goalkeeper Adam Lane but the ball fell to the ground and as Lane tried to recover Mark Swann pounced to score from an angle.
In the 41st minute Cradley increased their lead. Mark Swann latched onto a loose ball in Boldmere’s penalty area the re-bound fell back to Asher O'Garro whose low far post 18 yard effort beat the diving Adam Lane.
In a ten minute second half spell the game was turned on it’s head. It all began after a 57th minute foul by Walters on Boldmere substitute Lee Osborne. ‘The Mikes’ were awarded a free kick 20 yards out. Ricky Baker guided the ball around the wall and into the top left corner; Michael Connolly Cradley’s goalkeeper did not even move such was the quality of the strike.
In the next 4 minutes Boldmere scored two goals to lead 3-2. The first arrived on 60 minutes when Baker’s far post corner was won by Osborne who invitingly knocked the ball back across goal for Mark Mason to tap in. The winning goal came after Osborne and Smith linked up to set up another low cross where Mason was again on hand to tap in. Mark Mason thought he had a 90th minute hat-trick except the linesman’s flag ruled the effort out for off-side.
The win places ‘The Mikes’ in third place of the Aspire Midland Football Alliance and on Saturday 8th November Boldmere host Stratford Town and their new signing Paul Devlin at Church Road, Boldmere.
