Heather St. Johns 1-3 Boldmere St. Michaels Res

Heather utilising several team players due to no game of their own lost this Challenge Bowl Quarter-final to the Mikes who due to lack of recent games where by no means at their best, but gained a comfortable victory at the excellent Heather facilities.

Boldmere suffered a setback when the home took the lead on 16 minutes, Andy Lewis appeared to duck under an excellent delivery from a corner where the home striker bundled home reacting quicker then Dan Cobb in the Mikes goal. Mikes then put together a delightful move where the unusually subdued Kieran Robinson slid a lovely ball for the magnificent Andre Calder to drill home across the keeper with his left foot. The Mikes where constantly guilty of giving the ball away, and where glad to reach half time to sort out a few things.

Half time - Heather St Johns Reserves 1 v 1 Boldmere St Michaels Reserves

The second half was an improved display, still not showing the level of accurate football we have become used to but cracking goals inside the first and final ten minutes from the effervescent pairing of Andy Lewis and Kevin Buxton and solid defensive displays from Neil Hanlon and the youth team’s Shane Maydew backed by a best of the season display from striker Tom Clews, made it a reasonably comfortable passage into the Mikes second semi-finals of the season.
