Highgate 3-1 Boldmere St. Michaels Yth
The young mikes returned to league action travelling to Tythe Barn Lane to face Highgate United in a MYFL Premier Division encounter.
Highgate got off to a quick start nearly scoring after 11 minutes when a mix up between Keeper Wragg and a defender left a Highgate player to shoot narrowly past the Boldmere goal.
Highgate did take the lead two minutes later when a free kick was flicked up by Stephen Mason over Oliver Wragg in the mikes goal and in trying to clear it Wragg could only palm the ball into the mikes net.
Danny Jones had a couple of long shots for the young mikes but these were comfortably saved by Richard Kirby in the Highgate goal.
Highgate doubled their lead on 39 minutes when a corner came over and was misjudged by the defence and keeper who could only watch Maurice Hartnett convert a simple tap in.
Despite the young mikes making some changes at Half time Highgate picked up where they left off and on. On the hour it was 3-0 when Ryan Morgan broke clear and shot under Gavin Wragg in the Young Mikes goal.
Boldmere did grab a consulation effort in the 88th minute when a Johaine Thompson shot hit the Highgate post and Thompson had enough to hit home the rebound to grab a consulation but it wasn’t enough on the night.
