Reserve Team Preview: Sat 26 Sep 09 – Highgate United – Home
The Mikes Reserves return to home league action after securing their passage through to the knock out stages of the Challenge Bowl at Barwell last week, with a game to spare.
The Mikes entertain Highgate United in a Midland Combination Reserve Division fixture, which kicks off at 3:00pm.
The Mikes boast a 100% home record in all competitions and will be looking to continue that run. However, opponents Highgate will be looking to avenge the 3-0 home defeat inflicted by the Mikes in the Challenge Bowl on 11 August.
Joint manager Rob Clarke looked forward to the game: “We got the result at Barwell without setting the world alight with our football, but showed excellent character after going behind twice. Back on home territory, we will be looking for an improvement in quality. The win at Highgate earlier in the season will count for little, as our line up will look vastly different on Saturday”.
The Mikes are still without skipper Neil Hanlon, but welcome new signings Sam Woodall, Adam Morton and Will Hutt into the squad.
