Boldmere took a second minute lead after Highgate's Alan Shimmon fouled Ricky Baker 30 yards out from goal. Shuan Derry stepped up to take the free kick, but surprised goalkeeper Cox with a direct shot, as he was rooted to his spot.
The home side responded with a host of chances with the best being in the 13th minute, a shot from Tom Thacker bounced off the post before being gathered by Boldmere's Adam Lane who dived onto the loose ball. The keeper was again called in to action in the 17th minute when a strong shot from distance was well handled. Boldmere also forced Highgate's goalkeeper into a good save after Barton's pass to the edge of the 18yard area was met by Ricky Baker who turned and shot low and hard.
The visitors were awarded a penalty on 54 minutes after home substitute Robert Higgs fouled Ricky Baker. John Williams stepped up to take the penalty but his effort was easily saved.
After a strong Boldmere second half performace the game was made safe on 70 minutes. A corner by Shuan Derry found the waiting John Williams on the edge of the 18 yard box, his looped shot dropped into the top right hand corner and secured maximum points for 'The Mikes' this week. Next up Southam in the FA Cup on Saturday.
