Massey Ferguson v Boldmere St Michael’s Reserves
The Mikes Reserves face a quick turnaround following the long awaited completion of their second round tie in the County Midweek Floodlit Cup. Midland Combination Premier Division outfit Massey Ferguson have been lying patiently in wait for the winners or our clash with Racing Club Warwick.
After no fewer than six postponements due to adverse weather, The Mikes finally progressed courtesy of a well deserved 2-1 victory.
The Mikes make the trip to Coventry on Tuesday 26th January at 7:45pm and will be played to a finish on the night.
The Mikes opened their campaign with a fine 3-0 away win over Bustleholme FC, while Massey received a first round bye and came in at round two, disposing of Dudley Sports courtesy of a 2-1 away victory.
The Mikes welcome back skipper Jack Brown, Sam Woodall and Jamel Fuller who were unavailable for the Warwick game, while Ramarlo Barrett is now eligible to play in the competition, having been signed just after the original date of the Warwick tie.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke is looking forward to the tie: “I like these outside cups as it gives the lads chance to measure themselves against senior first teams. We know from the past few seasons that we give most Midland Comb. Premier sides a very good game, but we have to be at our best to get through. The win against Warwick was pleasing as we’d had such a long lay off. Although in some ways it’s frustrating to have no game to follow on Saturday, we can do a light session to get any stiffness out of the legs and we’ll be fresh and raring to go on Tuesday”
