Reaction: The Mikes edged out by unbeaten Champions‏

Tuesday 27th April 7:45pm
Barwell 1-0 Boldmere St Michael’s
Aspire Midland Football Alliance

The Mikes finished their away league campaign with a narrow defeat at Champions Barwell.

The home side started the brighter and went ahead through former Mikes striker Kev Charley. The Mikes had a Matt Hawker strike ruled out for an infringement, going in a goal down but well in the game. The Mikes were much the better side in the second half, but missed a number of chances to get back in the game.

Manager Rob Mallaband was disappointed, but not with the performance “I felt our performance warranted something from the game. It took us 15 minutes to get into it, but we worked hard and were the better team in the second half. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stick any of our chances away.”

Congratulations go to Barwell, who overhauled the record MFA points tally, beating Market Drayton’s total set last season. The Canaries have now amassed 113 points, with one game still to play.
