The Mikes secure stoppage time Stratford success

Boldmere St. Michael’s 2-1 Stratford Town
Aspire Midland Football Alliance
The Mikes made it 12 points in a week, with a dramatic late win over fourth placed Stratford Town at The Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
After the Mikes fell behind, Neil Watkins’ third spot kick of the week brought them level. The game looked to be heading for a draw, but there was late drama deep into stoppage time when The Mikes were awarded a free kick some 35 yards from goal. Kirk Smith’s piledriver found the corner of the net with the aid of a deflection and the points were secure.
Rob Mallaband was understandably delighted at the Mikes continued good form: “Four games in eight days is always a tough ask, and to gain maximum points is fantastic credit to the players. We’ve shuffled the pack through the week, and they’ve all responded in the right manner. We are aiming to finish as high as possible in the table, to gain momentum to take into next season”.
