Post Match Reaction: Reserves climb to third after win at Brocton‏

Post Match Reaction: Saturday 3rd April 2010

Brocton Reserves 0-3 The Mikes Reserves

Midland Football Combination Reserve Division

The Mikes Reserves enjoyed their first visit to the impressive Silkmore Lane Sports Ground, returning with maximum points following a solid display and moving up to third in the table in the process.

The Mikes came in with a 1-0 half time lead thanks to an Anthony Juxon penalty, awarded after the Kieran Robinson was upended. ‘Kizza’ returned to the club on deadline day after joining Atherstone Town in the close season.

Second half goals from Jorma Seabourne and Ramarlo Barrett sealed the victory over a hard working young Brocton outfit.

Joint manager Rob Clarke was satisfied. “This was a solid away team performance. We have been working on being harder to break down away from home, so to win comfortably on the road with a clean sheet is always welcome. They asked questions of us, but the back four were superb and Lewis Fenney didn’t have a serious save to make. ”

Clarke was also complimentary on the facilities on offer at Brocton “This was my first visit to Brocton’s new ground and I was impressed. It is very well appointed and the surface was good. The welcome was friendly all round and the hospitality first class, including the excellent food afterwards. They are certainly a welcome addition to the league. We also haven’t forgotten how accommodating Brocton were when they agreed to move the original fixture to allow us to focus on the club’s FA Vase tie at Whitley Bay. I will certainly look forward to my next visit”
