Match Preview: The Mikes Reserves v Gresley Reserves
The Mikes Reserves entertain Gresley Reserves on Saturday, hoping to put Tuesday’s cup disappointment behind them. This will be their first home Midland Combination Reserve Division fixture since 7th November.
The Mikes have already met Gresley at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground this season, squeezing past the Moatmen in November thanks to a late Andre Gonzales strike, sealing a 3-2 win in the first round of the Challenge Trophy.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke looked ahead to the game: “Tuesday was disappointing to go out on penalties, but to put in such a performance away against a team in the top six of the Midland Combination Premier Division should fill the lads with confidence. The Mikes welcome back skipper Jack Brown who was on the first team bench on Tuesday, as was top goalscorer Johaine Thompson who was cup tied. Adam Jenkins and Richard Dunleavy are both poised to make long-awaited first starts after lengthy injury absences.
