Oadby 2 - 0 Boldmere St Michaels
The Mikes ventured to Leicestershire to take on Oadby Town in a game which started under the gaze of a rainbow. Oadby started quickly and on 9 minutes only a last ditch Boldmere tackle inside the area prevented an effort.
Boldmere’s first effort came on the quarter hour when a Ricky Baker cross found Lee Osbourne out wide who shot wide of the Oadby goal.
Oadby’s best effort to came after 20 minutes when Joul Potter raced into the penalty area and was only prevented by a diving stop from mikes keeper Sean Butler who saved at Potter’s feet.
On 25 minutes came Boldmere’s best chance to date when Adam Wood hit a shot across the Oadby goal mouth and Nathan Gough forced a saved out of Oadby’s Damien Queilly.
Four minutes later Oadby broke the deadlock when a free kick into the Boldmere penalty area was not cleared and Jouel Potter fired home past Boldmere’s Sean Butler from inside the six yard box.
On 31 minutes Boldmere had an opportunity when Lee Osbourne played a ball across the Oadby box only for Nathan Gough to narrowly miss getting on the end of it. The resulting Boldmere corner was headed over the bar by Lee Osborne. Oadby nearly doubled their lead with 5 minutes of the half to go when a corner was crossed over to Alton Reynolds who forced a fine reflex save out of Sean Butler in the Boldmere goal.
Boldmere came out strongly at the start of the second half and on 46 minutes a simeon Tulloch cross was held by Quaelly in the Oadby goal with Nathan Gough putting him under pressure. Two minutes later a snap shot from Lee Osbourne was held by the keeper.
Oadby doubled their lead on 55 minutes when a corner went across a crowded Boldmere penalty area and Lee Westley Jumped with Several Boldmere defenders watching to nod the ball down unchallenged into the Boldmere net to make it two-nil.
On 59 minutes Boldmere forced a save out of the keeper when Oadby’s keeper caught the ball under the bar with Nathan Gough pressuring him.
Boldmere had a chance to pull a goal back on 66 minutes when a corner hit the underside of the Oadby crossbar and was cleared away by a defender. Two minutes later Lee Osbourne saw his effort saved by the Oadby keeper.. On 77 minutes a Rick Baker corner which went across the Oadby goal saw sub Johaine Thompson narrowly failed to get on the end of it. 11 Minutes later Johaine Thompson had another effort saved by the keeper and in stoppage time Oadby could have added a third when Ruben Joseph-Walker was put through but his effort was saved by a defender but it was the home team who claimed all three points to leave the visitors leaving Leicestershire empty handed.
