Rob Clarke on Bromsgrove defeat
The Mikes Reserves tasted defeat for the first time this season on Saturday, as Bromsgrove Rovers exacted swift revenge for their 2-1 defeat just a fortnight earlier.
Both sides were much changed from the first contest, and it was Rovers who deservedly triumphed 3-2 in a topsy-turvy contest.
Rob Clarke was philosophical following the defeat: “Although it’s disappointing to lose the game, it was good education for the lads. It was a messy game, where the ball was lively on the bumpy surface, and passing moves were at a premium”.
“It’s not always possible to play neat football all the time, so you must learn to adapt accordingly and tough it out. We did that ok in the first half to lead 2-1, but they had much the better of the second half, despite us having chances. We gave away poor goals, which really cost us”.
“We have a lot of new lads who are learning all the time, so they will benefit from the experience”.
