Reserves Quarter Final called off just before kick off

Wednesday 24th February 2010 – Boldmere St Michael’s Reserves v Oadby Town Reserves
Midland Football Combination Challenge Trophy – Quarter Final

MATCH POSTPONED

The Challenge Trophy Quarter Final between The Mikes Reserves and Oadby Town Reserves on Wednesday was postponed minutes before kick off due to the increased surface water due to incessant rain. Both teams were warming up when informed of the decision.

Joint Manager Rob Clarke commented: "I'm gutted, but the referee made the right decision. The pitch took a battering from Tuesday's first team game in the snow, but we'd worked on it all day to get it playable. At 4pm it was all systems go, but the rain started at 6pm and didn't stop. The officials looked at it at 6.30 and the ball was travelling fine despite the pitch being heavy, so the officials were happy and we got changed. As we warmed up it continued to bucket down, causing surface water. When the ref looked at it again, the ball wouldn't bounce or roll properly, so he had no choice. I really feel for Oadby as it's a long journey for nothing, but it's just one of those things."

Somewhat ironically, both reserve teams have no fixture on Saturday, but both first teams are at home so neither ground is available.

The game will therefore be played here at the Trevor Brown Memorial Grounfd on Wednesday 10th March, with an earlier kick off time of 7:15pm

The Mikes Reserves next fixture is next Wednesday 3rd March, when Bromsgrove Rovers visit the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground for a Midland Combination Reserve Division fixture (7:30pm).
