Reserves ease past Brocton
Saturday 13 February 2010
Midland Football Combination Reserve Division
The Mikes Reserves 3-0 Brocton Reserves
The Mikes registered a comfortable victory against league new boys Brocton at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
Ramarlo Barrett opened the scoring in the first half with an excellent strike. Johaine Thompson registered goal number 18 for the season with an equally superb strike, before Tom Clews slotted home with the last kick of the game.
The game marked a return to action for Adam Jenkins, who broke his ankle in October. The big stopper proved he had lost none of his sharpness, producing a superb block to make what was his only serious save.
Rob Clarke reflected on the game “in the end it was comfortable, but in the first half we were too laboured and were holding on to the ball for too long. We should still have gone in comfortably ahead. It was much better in the second half. We weren’t at our best and still won comfortably, which is a positive. It was also great to see Jenko back in action, and he made a vital save when called upon.”
The Mikes Reserves are at home next Saturday 20th February (3:00pm), when they entertain Chasetown in the second leg of their Midland Combination Challenge Bowl Semi-Final. The Mikes hold a 3-2 lead from the first leg.
