Reserves Preview: The Mikes visit Highgate on Wednesday
Match Preview: Wednesday 28th April 2010 – 7:45pm
Highgate United Reserves v The Mikes Reserves
Midland Football Combination Reserve Division
The Mikes Reserves travel to The Coppice on Wednesday for the fourth of six consecutive away league games to finish their league season.
The Mikes will be hoping to draw confidence from securing silverware on Saturday, overcoming Quorn in the Challenge Bowl Final.
This is The Mikes second visit of the season to Tythe Barn Lane, with the Mikes winning 3-0 in the Challenge Bowl Group stages back in August. The Mikes also prevailed in the home league fixture, securing a 4-0 victory.
Joint Manager Rob Clarke looked ahead to the game: “This is a huge game for us. We‘re top of the league, with Quorn and Chasetown breathing down our necks. We‘re there to be shot at, but we certainly wouldn’t swap it. The win at Chasetown and Saturday‘s final show that the lads can handle the pressure of must win games. They all fit into that category now. There will be no complacency in the camp. We obviously enjoyed it, but what was really refreshing that the majority of conversation in the camp was about keeping going in the league, not basking in Saturday‘s cup win”.
