Rob Clarke ahead of visit of Highgate United

Boldmere look to build on their opening day victory at Bridgnorth, as they kick off their home Aspire MFA campaign against Highgate United on Tuesday 11th August (7.30pm).

Looking ahead to the game, Rob Clarke commented:   “Highgate had a good opening season in the MFA.  Peter Frain’s teams always mirror own personality.  They are honest, hard working and never a soft touch - you always have to work exceptionally hard to beat them.  We know it’s going to be a tough test and we have to match all those qualities if we are to add to our points tally.

The attitude and application from the lads has been first class throughout pre season, as was some of the football we have played. The same applied on Saturday.  The atmosphere in the squad is excellent and it’s great to see them playing with confidence.  However, we are all keeping our feet firmly on the ground.  There are no illusions amongst any of us about how much hard work lies ahead if we are to improve on last year.

Saturday was pleasing, but it won’t count for so much if we don’t get a positive result on Tuesday.  We are on home territory, the pitch is in fantastic condition, and we are all looking forward to it”.

The Reserves also face Highgate United on Tuesday – in the group stage of Midland Combination Reserve Division Challenge Bowl (7.45pm).  Boldmere also tasted victory on the opening day (in the same competition), so last year’s finalists will travel in confident mood as they look to progress to the knockout phase.
