Rocester 1 - 2 Boldmere St. Michaels
On a cold, foggy day Rocester started the brighter of the two teams registering opening efforts from an Ashley Sheridan free kick, which worked Adam Jenkins into a diving save; and Richard Beech's shot from distance which again called upon Jenkins to tip over the bar. David Shaw's effort, set up by Liam Sowter also produced another excellent save from Jenkins along with his stop to deny Shaw's header from a Sheridan corner.
Kirk Smith had the visitor’s first effort on goal on the half hour mark following some good work from Tulloch. With the half coming to end 'The Mikes' started a passing move between Lee Osborne and Jason Holmes which found Ricky Baker in space, his effort was well saved by Rocester goalkeeper Stuart Heeps.
Boldmere started the second half as they finished the first, now clearly up-to-speed with the tricky conditions. On 51 minutes Boldmere took the lead, substitute Lyndon Weller's cross from the right found Lee Osborne at the far post who headed back to find Jason Holmes to steer the ball into the net.
On the hour and Rocester were back level, on the edge of the Boldmere area Liam Sowter latched onto a loose ball, while attempting to charge down the effort the ball took an unfortunate deflection off Adam Wood and the deflection looped round Adam Jenkins and into the net.
Wood’s 65th minute long punt into the path of Lee Osborne saw the forward take the ball around the advancing goalkeeper to steer the ball into an empty goal.
A change of formation was needed to cope with the home on-slaught in the dying stages but Boldmere were now playing a counter attack game and Lyndon Weller went close to put the game in no doubt. 'The Mikes' defence held firm and went second in the Aspire Midland Football Alliance.
