Rocester 5 - 2 Boldmere St. Michaels

The Mikes travelled to Rocester looking to build on a point earned in testing conditions on Tuesday at Biddulph, whilst Rocester have had a difficult spell recently losing at home to the runaway league leaders Barwell 0-9.

On a blazing hot day it was Rocester who settled quickly and they took the lead after only 2 minutes when a Tobias Salmon shot was deflected off a Boldmere defender past keeper Adam Jenkins to give the hosts the lead.

Boldmere’s first chance came on 10 minutes when Lee Osbourne’s shot was saved by Richard Froggatt and Osbourne’s follow up hit the bar.

In the next attack Rocester doubled their lead after 11 minutes when a free kick was flicked onto James Curley whose shot went through a static wall of defenders into the mikes net.

Rocester by this point were running riot and made it three - nil on 15 minutes when a free kick found Tobias Salmon who got past a shell-shocked defence to fire past Adam Jenkins.

Three minutes later Rocester’s quest for a fourth goal was only denied by the legs of Adam Jenkins

The mikes made a change on 24 minutes Simeon Tulloch replacing Kirk Smith.

Boldmere finally got a breakthrough on 32 minutes when a free kick was flicked onto Lee Osbourne who fired into the bottom corner of the net.

On 40 Minutes the mikes Jamel Fuller lobbed over the Rocester keeper only to see the fender clear the ball off the Rocester goal line and in 1st half injury time Jamel Fuller had a shot hit the Rocester bar and cleared away.

Boldmere needed to chase the game at the start of the 2nd half but it was Rocester who struck first on 58 minutes when a long ball found Matt Redshaw who shot under Adam Jenkins to make it three-one.

Anthony Juxon and Jerrad McGivern came on for Boldmere as they to claw things back but with more gaps appearing in the Boldmere defence Rocester made it four on 71 minutes when Shawn Salmon went round an advancing Boldmere keeper to fire into an empty net from an acute angle.

It was Boldmere who had the final say in 2nd half stoppage time when Lee Osbourne turned on the area edge to fire home for his 2nd of the afternoon but it was too little too late and leaves Boldmere with plenty of food for thought ahead of home games against Malvern Town and the League Leaders Barwell
