STUART MCNAUGHT

Stuart progressed through the youth ranks at The Mikes, establishing himself in the reserves while still appearing for the under 18s. He left the club to join Rob Mallaband at Walsall Wood as he looked to make the break into first team football.
'Macca' then returned to The Trevor Brown Memorial Ground in June 2008, nailing down a place in central midfield in the team that finished fourth in the MFA table and reached the final of the League Cup. His goalscoring tally was in double figures for the season and he also wore the captain's armband on a number of occasions. His contribution was recognised when The Mikes supporters voted him their Player of the Year.
His performances drew attention from a number of clubs at a higher level and he turned down a number of approaches before finally moving on to Rushall Olympic in December 2009. His last appearance for The Mikes came in the FA Vase Third Round tie at Whitley Bay.
Stuart holds two notable records. Along with Tim Gould, he has received Player of the Year awards at First, Reserve and Youth Team levels with The Mikes. He also holds the distinction of scoring The Mikes' 1,000th league goal in the Midland Football Alliance. This came courtesy of a header in the 4-0 home victory over Oadby Town in March 2009.
