Shifnal Town 2 - 2 Boldmere St. Michaels

Boldmere traveled to Shifnall on Tuesday night, visiting a side still defending an unbeaten league home record.  From the early stages it was easy to see how such a record had been achieved with Shifnall opening the game applying early pressure on the Boldmere defence. Jenkins in goal for ‘The Mikes’ intercepted Shifnall’s advances into the area and also acted as a reliable safety net for defenders to pass back to under pressure.

On 32 Minutes the back line was broken when Ramone Stephens latched on to a loose ball on the left wing and was allowed to drift inside to a central position, 18 yards out, before firing in a powerful low shot into the bottom right hand corner.

Boldmere found it rather difficult to find their usual passing game, but while the first half was Shifnall’s the second half was beginning to look like Boldmere’s, particularly after the introduction of Robinson and Juxon off the bench;  However with 10 minutes to go Shifnall scored a second through Craig Gregg.

A minute later Kirk Smith hit one straight back from 7yards out after an excellent run by Tulloch; Boldmere plied on the pressure thereafter and their never-say-die attitude was rewarded with the goal of the match.  Again Tulloch was the provider with a right wing cross to the near post where Holmes headed home.

The final exchanges were even and both sides chalked up their opportunities to nick the win but a draw was a fair result.
