Boldmere St. Michaels 4 - 1 Friar Lane & Epworth

Friar Lane & Epworth took an unexpected 12th minute lead from a 30 yard free-kick, on the right hand side.  Lewis Gibbons’ effort was sweetly struck and flew into top corner of the goal, leaving goalkeeper Adam Lane well beaten.

On 26th minutes Boldmere were back on level terms, Jackson’s left wing cross to the back post was won by Weller whose pass into the area was met by Jason Holmes to tap in.  Minutes later Weller could have made it two, but after coming under strong challenge his effort went wide. In the 31st minute Lyndon Weller was again causing the visitors problems.  His cross, via Holmes, fell to the edge of the eighteen yard line. Kirk Smith’s control and shot forced the Friar Lane keeper Aaron Harris to pull off a fine save.

The Second half saw a number of chances missed by Boldmere’s front line.  As the home side created attack after attack it took until the final ten minutes to make their efforts count.  Ricky Baker finally made the breakthrough in the 83rd minute after a being set up by Kirk Smith. With two minutes to go Mark Mason made in 3-1 after a fine move involving 5 players, Mason in front of goal fired in to make the game safe.  ‘The Mikes’ quickly won possession after the re-start and went straight back on the attack.  The referee awarded a penalty after a foul on Mark Mason, Ricky Baker’s penalty shattered the crossbar but rebounded to Simeon Tulloch who calmly slotted past the beaten keeper.
