Studley 0-1 Boldmere St. Michaels
The Mikes ended a free scoring Aspire MFA league season with a single goal victory at the Beehive.
On a day dominated by high winds and a very lively pitch, quality football was at a premium, with little in the way of goalmouth excitement.
I contrast to the rest of the game, the winning goal was an absolute gem. Anthony Juxon made a great tackle to break up Studley possession. The ball was worked to Matt Jackson, who laid the ball into Jason Holmes. Holmes produced a deft first time lay off to release Ricky Baker down the wing. His teasing cross was met by opposite wing man Simeon Tulloch, who guided a text book header across the keeper into the corner of the net.
The Mikes were unable to carve out any further clear chances, but were relatively comfortable at the back, with keeper Jenkins not called into serious action.
Although a little disappointed to finish two short of a century of league goals for the season, Manager Rob Mallaband was very satisfied to round off things with two away wins with clean sheets in the final week of the season.
Victory meant that the Mikes were guaranteed to finish ahead of Tipton Town, but Coalville also managed maximum points from the week, meaning the Mikes had to settle for fourth place in the table.
