Weather permitting, the Mikes will travel to Studley on Saturday for an Aspire Midland Football Alliance clash (3:00pm).
The Mikes will be looking to build on last week’s emphatic 4-0 victory at Highgate United, with goals from Jason Holmes, Lyndon Weller and a brace from top scorer Lee Osborne.
The Bees also recorded a win on the road last week, coming from behind to take the points at Rocester courtesy of goals either side of half time from Jack Edwards and man-of-the-match Jamie Clarke. Despite dominating the second half, they were indebted to former Romulus keeper Matty Harris, who pulled off a brilliant penalty save in the last minute to secure the points.
It will be the Mikes’ second visit to The Beehive this season, having narrowly taken the spoils in October’s FA Vase clash courtesy of a single Nathan Gough strike. The teams also met later that month at The Trevor Brown Memorial Ground, with the Mikes again coming through, this time 2-0.
The Bees currently sit in thirteenth place in the table, two points and two places behind the Mikes, but with a game in hand. A 5th place ranking in the current MFA form table reflects their much-improved record of late.
Rob Mallaband looked ahead to the game “Saturday will be tough, as games against Studley always are. The Vase game could have gone either way, so I expect a close game once again. Last week was much improved and we know we’ll have to up our game again to get a result”
