Tamworth resign from Midland Combination Reserve League
Following the late resignation of reserve team boss Daren Fulford and with the current financial climate following the collapse of Setanta Blue SquareTV deal, Tamworth Football Club have taken the tough decision not to run a Reserve team for the 2009/2010 season.
The Lambs formally resiged from the Midland Combination prior to the League’s AGM on Monday 22nd June 2009.
With the majority of Reserve Team players opting to follow Daren to Atherstone along with a number of players who he had lined up for the proposed under 18’s it was decided that there was insufficient time for anyone else to come straight in and find players who if called upon were able to make the grade for First Team action.
First team manager Gary Mills was involved in the decision making process and was supportive of the club’s decision despite the loss of a number of local youngsters who would have been allocated a First Team squad number for the Lambs Conference National campaign.
Tamworth's last reserve game was against Boldmere Click Here for the match report.
Tamworth have also disbanded all the youth teams who play under their 'wing'.
