Walsall Wood 0-1 Boldmere St. Michaels Res
The Mikes made the short journey to Walsall to meet the most improved side in the division, with the wood having tons of pace and power throughout their side a difficult game was envisaged.
Mikes started the game at a high tempo and created a number of opportunities that they failed to take, with Mikes midfield back to its very best they continued to open up the well drilled home defence but only managed what turned out to be the winning goal when Danny Dubidat scored after great build up play by Scott Barker, Andy Lewis and Kevin Buxton set up Lyndon Weller to create the opening. Andre Calder and Pete Gould continued to stay solid in the Mikes defence against the pacy Wood attack leaving keeper Sean Butler with little to do.
The second half became much more even game, but with Mikes continuing to hold the upper hand and continuing to create the better chances the game should have been put out of reach of the home team but a couple of decent saves from the keeper and hitting of the woodwork twice kept the game on a knife-edge, Wood was starting to get colder to the Mikes goal and had there one and only clear opportunity but was gratefully gobbled up by Butler to the mikes through to the end of a difficult game, but they will be pleased with there general performance level leading into next weeks two Cup Finals.
